Apparently Lil Wayne doesn’t enjoy feeling unappreciated by fans. During his headlining performance at the High Times Medical Concentrates Cup in San Bernardino, Calif., this past weekend, the Young Money Entertainment CEO (and rapper Birdman’s on-and-off again arch nemesis) abruptly ended his set Saturday evening at the NOS forum.

The 5-time Platinum hip-hop luminary seemed like his normal self when he walked out on stage to a crowd full of cannabis advocates at around 9:30 p.m. Lil Wayne sparked up a blunt on stage, demonstrating his stance on marijuana law reform, but somehow things took a turn for the worse. After performing only 10 minutes into his previously agreed upon hour-long set, the Grammy award-winning artist completely lost it, exploding on fans and High Times organizers before tossing his microphone to the ground and uttering, “Don’t you ever call me to do this shit again. Ever. Don’t you, ever, ever, ever, ask me to do this shit again.”

High Times seemed as baffled as the rest of the crowd by his behavior, as indicated by a statement the magazine released about the incident yesterday:

“HIGH TIMES works tirelessly to produce professional events that are entertaining, educational and fun for the thousands of marijuana and music enthusiasts who attend our Cannabis Cups — including night two of the 3 day HIGH TIMES Medical Concentrates Cup at the National Orange Show in San Bernardino, CA. HIGH TIMES has a rich history of bringing superstar musical talent to Cannabis Cups including Wiz Khalifa, The Roots, De La Soul, Wyclef Jean, The Game, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz and many more. HIGH TIMES puts on nearly a dozen successful events a year all over the country. We have no idea why, after a stellar performance by B.o.B, Lil Wayne suddenly ended his performance after just four songs when he was contractually committed to performing for an hour for the fans. We are truly baffled by why Lil Wayne would do this in front of thousands of Cannabis Cup attendees – in total disregard for his fans – and are awaiting an explanation from his team.”

Entertainment news outlets are reporting that the former Hot Boy’s blood began to boil after he grew frustrated over what he perceived as low energy from the crowd. Fan sites allege that Lil Wayne decided to make an early departure from his performance because the crowd just wasn’t turnt up enough for his taste:

“You guys are too mellow, I’m from the south we turn up there.”

Nobody can say for certain what set Lil Tunechi off, and honestly we may never know until he or someone in his camp sounds off about what actually went down at the cup. His peculiar behavior has left the Leafly crew positing a few ideas of our own about what led the self-proclaimed “Best Rapper Alive” to disappoint a bunch of his 420-friendly fans:
