There is a unique event happening at the Refuge Pdx in Portland this Friday (7/22/16)…one that combines art, music, and cannabis all in one!
Rosie McGee , Grateful Dead historian and photographer, will be doing a book signing and art show opening that is sure to impress Dead Heads and art aficionados alike. This is Rosie’s first-ever gallery exhibit and sale, featuring her portraits of the Grateful Dead and including five photographic banners that were displayed at the 50th Anniversary “Fare Thee Well” venues. She will also be signing copies of her book, “Dancing with the Dead—A Photographic Memoir”, featuring stories and photos of the 10 years she lived, traveled and worked with the Dead during their first decade as a band.
This portion of the event kicks off at 1:00 p.m. and is free and open to all ages until 4:00 p.m.
Then, after the Dead and Company show at the Moda Center, the Refuge will host an official after party, featuring the Garcia Birthday Band, the Merry Pranksters, and the Further Bus! The after party is 21 and-over and is $15 with Dead and Company ticket stub, $25 without.
Doors open and DJ music begins at 10 pm, with lights provided by the Psychedelic Express Lightshow, and runs until 3 am.
In addition, The Refuge has been granted on site consumption for the after party portion of the event. This means you can bring cannabis with you to the event and have a safe outside space on the premise for consumption. Check out the Facebook event page here, where they will post a number of locations from sponsors where you can purchase discounted products at a licensed local dispensary, such as the offer from Botanica found here. There will not be any cannabis given away or sold at this event, but you can bring your own and partake. You can enjoy music, cannabis, art, and company in a comfortable environment, and rigs will be onsite.
