North Ridgeville, Ohio – If you are looking forward to medical marijuana being grown and sold in North Ridgeville, you will have to wait. If you don’t want it in the city, you will likely have six months to lobby city council on your views.

On Monday the city council was considering imposing a 180-day moratorium on the building permits for cultivating, processing or selling medical marijuana to allow the council time to review Ohio laws, criminal codes and zoning.

Jeff Armbruster, city safety service director, said the state legislature has not written any rules so far. “So the six months is for everyone to get their hands around the project,” he said.

Armbruster also noted the state is in the process of having meetings to set up a system, write the rules and institute regulatory oversight, all of which will be taken into consideration by the council.
