Concord Twp. – Concord Township Trustees approved a resolution to prohibit the location of medical marijuana cultivators, processors and retail distributors for one year in the unincorporated sections of Concord Township on Tuesday.
“We are putting this resolution in place for one year,” said chairman Don Pence. “This action will go through Oct. 4, 2017. The reason we are doing it for one year is so that hopefully by that time there will be some procedures in place that we would have more response to those procedures. At this time, there’s nothing in place. We are just doing a blanket prohibition until we know more.”
Trustees Bill Whidden and Tom Mercer did not comment after the resolution was signed. The resolution was drafted by the township’s counsel with the Miami County Prosecutor’s Office.
Mercer noted the township’s leaf schedule was sent by mail and was sent to approximately 2,327 residential homes. Mercer said the addresses were obtained through the county’s voter registration lists.
Road superintendent Neil Rhoades reported the new leaf collection box for the township’s Western Star truck will cost $5,600.
