Cannabis Community to Honor Emmy Award-winning TV Personality For Medical Cannabis Advocacy
LOS ANGELES — Women Abuv Ground (WAG) is excited to announce that Emmy Award-winning TV personality Montel Williams will receive its 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award for using his celebrity to bring awareness to medical cannabis for treatment of chronic illnesses. Williams will receive his award at WAG’s first annual CannaCool Lounge, hosted by Super Bowl champ Marvin Washington. The CannaCool Lounge will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 7 p.m. at the Casa Vertigo, located at 828 Oak St in downtown Los Angeles.
The event will also serve as the official launch of Women Abuv Ground (WAG), founded by cannapreneur Bonita “Bo” Money. WAG is a professional cannabis networking organization, dedicated to educating and empowering people in the emerging cannabis industry. For the 420-friendly community, the signature, lifestyle event will offer cannabis connoisseurs a chance to explore new brands as well as cannabis-infused food and drinks. Chef Andrea Drummond of Elevation VIP and Chef Millie Fernandez aka Rock StarChefz will showcase innovation menus, infusing flavorful foods with cannabis, and offering attendees an enjoyable cuisine experience. Cannabis lovers will also enjoy handcrafted, infused edibles by the award-winning brand, incredibles, founded by Bob Eschino. Plus, the CannaCool Lounge will feature signature drinks by Dama Tequila as well as a wine bar, hosted by Know Label Wine, founded by Grammy winner Melissa Etheridge. A CannaCatwalk runway show, presented by Fusion Event Designs will cap of the evening of fun. The CannaCool Lounge is a high-end, celebrity-driven event, giving cannabis lovers an opportunity to enjoy the various offerings of cannabis in an entertaining setting.
As a “purveyor of pot,” Money is thrilled to present this event on the heels of passage of Prop 64, which legalizes recreational cannabis in California for adults 21 and over. “We are excited to honor Montel Williams for his advocacy of medical cannabis,” says Money. “He’s been at the forefront of the cannabis revolution, and a wonderful activist in changing attitudes and fighting the stigma associated with cannabis for medicinal use.”
Williams is one of the highest profile advocates for medical cannabis in the country. He has used cannabis products to effectively manage the symptoms of his Multiple Sclerosis (MS) since his diagnosis with the disease in 1999.

Montel Williams began his professional career in the United States Marine Corps. He was the first African American Marine selected to attend the Naval Academy Prep School; graduate from the US Naval Academy; and be commissioned as a naval officer. Over the course of his 22-year military career, he’s earned a plethora of medals, awards and citations.
