North Little Rock – As part of a two-day summit, at Camp Robinson, put on by the attorney general’s office, law enforcement agencies gathered to discuss various challenges including the possibility of medical marijuana becoming legal.

A Denver Police commander discussed various challenges and strategies when it comes to dealing with both medical and recreational marijuana.

“In a sense it doesn’t impact what my agency does, but at the same time we’re very concerned about it because marijuana is still a scheduled one drug on the federal controlled substance list,” said DEA Assistant Special Agent, Matthew Barden.

Denver Police Commander James Henning not only discussed the amount of money one can make by growing the marijuana for dispensaries, he also discussed the dangers of other products on the market. Henning also explained the content level of THC Colorado marijuana has, which is nearly which is around five times higher than cannabis from Mexico.

“As in many other states that have legalized marijuana in one form or another here in the United States, it will be looked at by DEA and by the Department of Justice and by the federal government to see how we will proceed forward, at the end of the day, regardless of which state we’re in until marijuana is changed federally it’s still a schedule 1 drug and a violation of federal law,” added Barden.

Arkansas voters will have to decide on two medical marijuana ballot questions come this November.
