Roger Volodarsky founded a load-your-own vape pen company because he says he thinks cannabis connoisseurs shouldn’t have to make a compromise when they vape.
In states where marijuana sales are allowed, vape pens sometimes come pre-filled or utilize oil cartridges that contain mixing agents such as polyethylene glycol or coconut oil to help the THC oil vaporize and atomize.
“There’s the true connoisseur, he wants the best of the plant — nothing else,” says Volodarsky, who founded the New York City-based Puffco, which sells loose-leaf vaporizers.
Volodarsky says the future of vaping may include diluting with cannabis-derived terpenes; but until then, he plans to stick with loading his own.
Volodarsky joins Cannabist editor-in-chief Ricardo Baca on The Cannabist Show to talk pre-fills, his company Puffco and what needs to change in the vape pen market.
