A California-based body care products company has donated $100,000 to the campaign to legalize marijuana.

Dr. Bronner’s, which uses hemp and hemp oil in some of its products, announced in mid-September its intention to spend $660,000 supporting recreational marijuana measures in Arizona, California, Massachusetts, Maine and Nevada. The Arizona donation from “Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps” arrived Sept. 29, according to reports filed with the Arizona Secretary of State.

Proposition 205 would legalize marijuana for recreational use for adults 21 and older and allow them to carry and buy up to one ounce of marijuana. The measure would also set up retail sales and allow adults to grow marijuana in their homes.

Prop. 205 would legalize industrial hemp, which is not a psychoactive substance. Cultivation of hemp is currently illegal and manufacturers must import it for use in food and clothing, among other things. [Read more at AZ Central]
