After Adams County commissioners rejected the permit for this year’s U.S. Cannabis Cup in Colorado, organizers are scrambling to find a new home for the event — and it looks as if High Times’ largest marijuana-minded party might be leaving the Denver metro area in 2016. Cup organizers and told The Cannabist that the event will take place April 16-18 near Pueblo — a steel town 114 miles south of Denver known for its now-burgeoning marijuana industry. –Report by The Cannabist’s Ricardo Baca

Utah state senators gave preliminary approval to a medical marijuana proposal that would legalize edible, vapor and topical pot products. Bill sponsor Sen. Mark Madsen, R-Eagle Mountain, said the plan would allow tens of thousands of residents with those medical conditions to use the drug but would ban smoking it. During the debate Monday, he promised that the proposal is in no way a first step toward the state legalizing recreational marijuana. “This is Utah,” he said. “It is not inevitable.” –Report by The Associated Press
