PRESS RELEASE

Valley View, OH – Cannabis Business Times magazine is pleased to announce that Étienne Fontán, vice president and co-owner of Berkeley Patients Group (BPG), will be the keynote speaker at Cannabis 2017 Cultivation Conference. Fontán will share his unique perspective on the industry he has been involved in for more than 20 years in various capacities, as well as his recent legal battle with the federal government as they threatened to shut down his company, the oldest medical dispensary in the nation.

Fontán joins an impressive list of speakers, who are among the most well-known and respected names in the cannabis cultivation industry worldwide. Conference sessions and speakers have been carefully chosen by the editors of Cannabis Business Times, producer of the conference, and the Cannabis 2017 advisory board.

Étienne Fontán is VP/co-owner of Berkeley Patients Group (BPG), the nation’s oldest medical dispensary. He has founded several dispensaries in California, Maine, Nevada and Oregon. Fontán was trained by top medical cannabis researchers in the Netherlands on topics from supply chain economics to methods for testing medical cannabis. He has extensive cannabis knowledge on all aspects of indoor and outdoor cultivation. He has managed grows for Ed Rosenthal and consults with master growers on techniques and trends. A combat veteran of the first Gulf War, he lobbies for veteran access to cannabis for PTSD and post-war injuries, and is a longtime cannabis activist. Fontán is an NCIA founding board member and former board chair.

“We are thrilled Étienne Fontán will deliver the keynote at this important event,” says Jim Gilbride, Cannabis Business Times’ Group Publisher. “He has watched the industry take shape from a point where no one expected to see serious reform in their lifetime to becoming the fastest-growing industry in the country … and from an unregulated world to the highly regulated world that continues to develop around us. His perspective and guidance will be indispensable to cultivators.”

Registration is now open for Cannabis 2017, which will be held at the Oakland Marriott City Center in Oakland, Calif., March 20-22, 2017. This is the first year for this conference, which will bring professional cannabis cultivators, owners, CEOs, executive team members and innovators together for 2½ days of interactive learning and networking.
