Palm Harbor, Fl – Richard Murphy endures daily seizures and admits life has changed dramatically after a car accident back in 2014. He can no longer function the way he once used to after suffering a traumatic brain injury.

His wife, Pam, tells WFLA, “Our lives have changed. He’s on so much medication now.”

On Monday morning, Richard became the first registered Florida patient to receive a cannabis spray, manufactured by Surterra Therapeutics, to treat his seizures. His neurologist in Palm Harbor became certified a year ago to dispense this low-THC treatment.

Who is eligible for this treatment? How much does it cost? And what are both patients and doctors hoping to accomplish?

Tonight on WFLA, 8 On Your Side goes one-on-one with the Murphy family about their journey and talks with the neurologist who is hoping to change lives with this cannabis spray. Stay with WFLA.com for the full story.
