This Thursday in Portland the Women Grow Chapter will host it’s September networking event. These events are always rich in both networking opportunities and program knowledge, and this will be the last networking event until early November. The event will be held in NE Portland and Oregon State Representative Val Hoyle  be the keynote speaker.

From 2012-2015 Val Hoyle served as the Majority Leader of the Oregon House, leading the Democratic Caucus through multiple successful legislative sessions. Under Val’s leadership, Val has more than 25 years of private sector business experience in domestic and international sales, wholesale distribution, and retail management in the sporting goods industry. She was a member and chairperson of the Board of the Federal District Export Council of Oregon and a member of the Outdoor Industry Women’s Coalition. She worked hard with colleagues during the 2009, 2015, and 2016 sessions to ensure the burgeoning cannabis industry has the support it needs to grow by; protecting patients’ access to medicinal marijuana, helping legal businesses create jobs and thrive, and preventing drug use among young people.

Rep. Hoyle was hugely supportive of the 2016 industrial hemp bill HB 4060 that just passed through the Oregon Legislature this past spring. HB 4060 amended the original hemp bill SB 676 that Val worked on extensively with Senator Floyd Prozanski in 2009. She will be speaking about her reasons for supporting HB 4060, and about women in leadership overall.

At the event, attendees will also hear from Trista Okel of Empower Bodycare and from members of the Vote Yes on 97 campaign .
