Little Rock, AR – Governor Asa Hutchinson is set to hold a conference to discuss his views about the marijuana initiatives on the November ballot Monday morning.
Hutchinson will speak, along with representatives from the medical community. They will speak at the Governor’s Conference Room at the State Capitol in Little Rock. The conference starts at 10:30 a.m.
There are two medical marijuana initiatives on the ballot for the November election. The first is the Arkansas Medical Cannabis Act, and the second is the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment. The two are similar, but here are differences.
The Arkansas Medical Cannabis Act would allow medical pot to be prescribed for 56 illnesses, there would be at least 39 non-profit dispensaries and home growing would be allowed in rare cases.
The Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment would only allow prescriptions for 14 illnesses, there would be 40 for-profit dispensaries and no home growing would be allowed.
If both the Act and the Amendment pass, and they are deemed similar by the courts, the measure with the most votes will win.
